SINGARAJA – Singaraja Immigration Office, Class II TPI, deported a British national identified as GTAW, 47, back to his home country after completing his sentence for involvement in a theft case. In addition to deportation, he has also been placed on a watchlist.
The Head of Singaraja Immigration Office, Hendra Setiawan, stated that GTAW was deported on Wednesday (1/11) afternoon through I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport with Thai Airways flight number TG-432 bound for Bangkok and Thai Airways flight number TG-910 with the final destination of London, England.
During the deportation process, Singaraja Immigration officers escorted GTAW until he boarded the plane. GTAW, who has been deported, is scheduled to be included in the immigration directorate’s blacklist, in accordance with Article 75 of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration.
“GTAW is a former convict in a theft case under Article 362 of the Indonesian Penal Code, as per the decision of the Denpasar District Court Number 75/Pid.B/2023/PN Dps. He has completed his sentence with a one-year imprisonment,” said Hendra Setiawan on Thursday (2/11).
It is noteworthy that GTAW was arrested by law enforcement officers for stealing a custom Yamaha Scorpio DK 3445 EZ motorcycle. The motorcycle theft was captured on CCTV at Cafe Deus Canggu, Badung, on Monday (28/11) and became viral on social media. In the trial, GTAW was found guilty and sentenced to one year in prison.
GTAW served his sentence at Class IIB Karangasem Prison. After completing his sentence, GTAW was handed over from the prison to the Singaraja Immigration Office, which oversees the Karangasem Regency, for deportation on Tuesday (31/11). Before deportation, GTAW was held at the Singaraja Immigration Detention House (Rudenim).
“After fulfilling all administrative requirements, he was deported to return to his country through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali and is subject to a ban on entering Indonesian territory,” explained Hendra Setiawan.
